Protecting children, youths and vulnerable adults is of the highest importance at parishes and Catholic schools throughout our diocese. All clergy, employees and volunteers in the diocese who work with children or vulnerable adults within the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee must pass a Level II background check, complete all required Safe Environment training courses through the Armatus system and adhere strictly to our Code of Conduct policies.
Since the establishment of The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, our diocese has been proactive in its efforts to create safe environments. We have been fully engaged in the annual audit process and have been found compliant in implementing the practices of The Charter since its inception in 2002. Our diocese has worked hard over the last couple of decades to make our Church a very safe, warm and welcoming place for children and for all people. ” Bishop Wack
*5/4/2020 Please note this new announcement from Fieldprint, Inc:
Fieldprint's scheduling sites have been updated to include language requesting individuals to cover their face before arriving to an appointment. In states where it is required by law, individuals not wearing a face-covering may be turned away.
Fieldprint, Inc. has already been in contact with all of their livescan device providers with instructions and guidelines for processing fingerprints using these livescan devices. Since the diocese background check process uses mainly livescan devices at these different Fieldprint, Inc. locations, we ask that you only do so if necessary for newly hired pre-employment requirements or for contractor/vendor purposes. If you do not wish to go through the fingerprinting process at this time, please contact Jeanne Blake in Human Resource/Safe Environment at 850-435-3570 or blakej@ptdiocese.org.
Since church meetings and social gatherings have been suspended and the schools are not in session at this time, new volunteers or those that need to be reprocessed due to our 5-year renewal policy should wait to be fingerprinted until you are contacted by your parish/school secretary or their safe environment coordinator.
Online safe environment courses are always available, and this could be a good time to learn more about keeping children and vulnerable adults safe. Visit armatus2.praesidiuminc.com/armatusUser/login to begin. If you have forgotten your username and/or password or if you have never enrolled in Armatus before, contact Jeanne Blake at blakej@ptdiocese.org. New users will receive an enrollment code to create a username and password for Armatus.
Online safety is a concern especially now that children are at home more now during this time while school is out. There is a “Social Media” course that may be useful for all parents to watch.
The Diocese along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have established Policies and Procedures for the handling of Personnally Identifiable Information (PII).
All Employees who have access to PII complete Security Awareness Training annually.
