WASHINGTON - Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement on Ukraine:

“I am saddened and distressed by the news of war in Ukraine, and I ask all of the faithful of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee to join me in praying for a swift and peaceful resolution. May God watch over and protect our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and Russia, and may the Holy Spirit inspire us to bring an end to all violence, which is an egregious offense against the sanctity of life.”
