Fr. Christian Plancher, SMM has died at age 57

Fr. Christian Plancher, SMM passed into eternal life on Friday May 2, 2025 at the age of 57. 

Fr. Christian was born on July 24, 1967 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In the late 1980s He joined the Company of Mary (Societas Mariae Monfortana) a missionary religious order founded by St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. He made his first profession of vows in 1989, final vows in 1995 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1996.

Fr. Christian arrived in our diocese in 2018 and was assigned as parochial vicar at St. Rita's in Santa Rosa Beach while also serving the Christ the King community in Freeport. In 2020 he was assigned as parochial vicar at St. Rose of Lima in Milton where he remained until his death. He was well known for his service to the Spanish speaking community in our diocese through his linguistic capabilities and his deep devotion of the Holy Eucharist.

A special Mass will be offered for Fr. Christian at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Milton on Saturday May 3 at 10:00 a.m. CT. This page will be updated with funeral arrangements.
