Father Pete Zalewski was promoted to brigadier general on December 14 at the Florida National Guard Headquarters in St. Augustine. In addition to being pastor of Blessed Sacrament in Tallahassee, Father Zalewski is a Florida Air National Guardsman currently serving as the Director of the Office of the Joint Chaplain, National Guard Bureau, Washington, D.C.

A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Father Zalewski served as an intelligence officer prior to entering Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans in 1992. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1997.
He is now the highest-ranked Catholic clergyman in the U.S. Armed Services.
