Holy Days of Obligation are six days a year on which all Catholics are required to attend Mass. These days are the Solemnity of Mary, the Ascension of the Lord, the Solemnity of All Saints, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and the solemnity of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Christmas). If the holy day falls on a Saturday or a Monday, the obligation to attend Mass on that day is removed (except on Christmas), and the holy day is celebrated on Sunday.
