The public, members of all faiths and the media are welcome to attend a prayer service to end the death penalty in Florida that will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (4665 Thomasville Rd., Tallahassee). Maria DeLiberato, executive director of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, will be the speaker.
The names of people who have been executed since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976 and of their victims will be read aloud. The service is sponsored by the Mercy & Justice Core Community of the Good Shepherd parish. It will mark the 236th anniversary of the decision by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in Italy to abolish the death penalty.
