Reverend David Thomas Michael O Shea, 86, a retired priest of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, died Sunday, June 18, 2023, at his residence in Panama City Beach.
Father O Shea was born on August 8, 1936 in Limerick, Ireland. He attended Crescent College in Limerick and St. Patrick’s College in Thurles. Father O Shea was ordained to the priesthood on June 11, 1961 by Bishop Thomas Morris at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Thurles, Ireland.
Father O Shea served in various pastoral assignments in the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee including pastor at St. Joseph in Port St. Joe, pastor of St. Mary in Fort Walton Beach, and pastor of St. Bernadette in Panama City Beach where he served 19 years until his retirement in 2004. In addition to his parish assignments, Father O Shea served as chairman of the Diocesan Worship Commission (1976-1979), member of the Diocesan Stewardship Commission (1978-1979), and Spiritual Director of Our Lady Queen of Peace Curia of the Legion of Mary in Fort Walton Beach. He faithfully served the people in the Diocese for 43 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Panama City Beach on Tuesday, June 27 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., with the Rosary starting at 10:00 a.m. The funeral Mass will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral will be a repast.
