BREAKING NEWS-- Pope Francis names Bishop Parkes as bishop of St. Petersburg

The Vatican announced Monday morning that our beloved Bishop Gregory Parkes is to become Bishop of St. Petersburg in Florida.
                                                                                                   
“I’m very grateful to Pope Francis for appointing me Bishop of St. Petersburg. It has been a joy to serve as Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee for the past four and a half years. I’m going to miss the Panhandle and all those I’ve had the pleasure of meeting during my time here.”

Bishop Parkes will be installed as Bishop of St. Petersburg on Jan. 4 at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg, and he will be dearly missed. We congratulate him on his new appointment and pray for him during this time of transition.
