Four Themes Enliven Year of Faith Engaged

 

Synergy happens when two or more factors interact so that the combined effect is greater than the sum of individual effects. Applied to groups of people, such as parishes, schools and organizations within a diocese, synergy becomes a collaboration that creates an enhanced combined effect.  

The four themes being promoted for the Year of Faith Engaged work together to produce spiritual synergy:·     

• It is the Eucharist, as the source and summit of our Faith that unifies and animates our life as Church and as disciples  of Christ. 
  
  
• The Eucharist, as source for the life of the Church and its sons and daughters, sends us forth to tell the good news with our lives.  Authentic evangelization flows from the graces of the Eucharist.
  
  
• Our celebration coincides with the 2000th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle Paul and the Pauline Year set by our Holy Father.  Studying and reflecting on Paul’s life, works and words during this Year of Faith Engaged brings the riches of Scripture to our project. 
  
  
• Finally, history offers a fourth theme: Faith Engaged since 1559.  In that year, the first Mass was celebrated on the   feast of Our Lady’s Assumption August 15, 1559.  For 450 years, the Catholic Faith has been present, alive and active in our region. 

All diocesan entities have been urged by Bishop Ricard to use these themes in their program planning this year – for catechesis, for reflection and discernment.  All are invited to promote events celebrating these themes and the Year of Faith Engaged.  Send information to mcneills@ptdiocese.org for inclusion in this newsletter.*
